Dan lives in Kennebunk with his wife, surrounded by a family whose connection to this part of Maine spans generations. Four generations of Dan’s family now live along the Maine seacoast. His two young grandsons are growing up here alongside their parents.
That long view shapes the way Dan thinks about public service. The decisions Maine makes today should create opportunities for the people who live here now while protecting what makes this a good place for the generations that follow.
An Experienced Professional
Dan’s professional life has centered on helping people prepare for a changing world. Before entering the Legislature, he spent 35 years in book publishing, working in scientific and technical fields creating content for professionals and college students. He later brought that experience into consulting through New World Associates, where his work included leading the Workforce Summit for Industry 4.0 in collaboration with the American Society for Engineering Education, where he served two terms as a director bof the American Society for Engineering Education and chaired its Corporate Member Council. Those roles brought together people from education and industry to address shared challenges, experience that continues to influence the way Dan approaches leadership today.
A Commitment to Community
His commitment to public service began close to home. Dan served on the Town of Kennebunk Budget Board and acted as its liaison to RSU 21. In 2025-2026, Dan served as co-president of the Kennebunk Rotary Club, the leadingdonor of scholarships to high school graduates in RSU21.
He also volunteers with local civic organizations, including with a collaborative effort to improve substance use programming for young people in the community
